Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before you protect your pool with IQnero — how the monitoring works, who installs it, what it costs, and how we handle your data.
What exactly is IQnero?
IQnero is a smart pool-leak-monitoring service. A small smart meter installed on your pool's water line measures real water flow 24/7, learns your pool's normal usage, and alerts you the moment usage drifts in a way that signals a leak. When a repair is needed, you can book a background-checked field technician straight from the app and follow the whole job through to the report.
How does leak detection actually work?
The meter reads the actual water flowing through your pool's line around the clock — not an estimate. IQnero builds a baseline of what's normal for your pool (top-ups, evaporation, backwashing and the like), then watches for deviations: continuous flow that shouldn't be there, or usage climbing above your normal range. Because it's measuring real water, every alert is expressed in actual gallons rather than a vague percentage.
Do I need to install any hardware?
Yes — one piece. A smart meter is fitted to your pool's water line, and it's the sensor that makes real measurement possible. There's no app-only guesswork and nothing for you to wire up yourself. Once it's installed and paired to your account, it runs quietly in the background.
Who installs the device, and is it difficult or disruptive?
A background-checked IQnero technician handles the installation and pairs the device to your account for you. For most pools it's a single short visit, and a one-time installation fee applies to every plan. You don't need any tools, plumbing know-how or technical setup on your end.
Are your technicians vetted?
Yes. Every field technician passes a background check through Checkr, our screening partner, before they're able to take jobs through the platform. In the app you can see exactly who's assigned to your visit and track them on the way to your door.
How quickly will I be alerted, and in what units?
Alerts are real-time. The instant measured usage drifts from your pool's normal pattern, IQnero notifies you through the app — and it always reports the exact water lost in gallons, not a vague estimate or percentage. That way you know not just that something's off, but how much water is actually going missing.
How much does IQnero cost?
During our private beta, prices are indicative and may change at launch. IQnero has monitoring plans — Basic (24/7 monitoring and leak alerts in gallons), Standard (adds leak detection visits) and Premium (adds covered repairs) — plus Elite Care plans that add weekly pool maintenance. Current plans and prices live in the app — download it to see what fits your pool. A one-time installation fee applies to every plan. You can see the full breakdown under Plans & commitment on the pool-owner page.
Where is IQnero available?
IQnero is currently in private beta, starting in Texas, USA. We're opening up region by region and expanding from there. If we're not in your area yet, email info@iqnero.com and we'll let you know the moment IQnero is available for your pool.
What happens to my pool and water-usage data?
We take a privacy-first approach. We collect your pool's water-usage data so we can monitor for leaks, plus the account details needed to run your service — and we don't sell your personal information. Water-usage data reaches us through our metering partner, payments are handled by Stripe, and technician screening by Checkr. The full detail of what we collect and why is in our Privacy Policy.
Is there a commitment, and can I cancel?
Every plan runs for 3 years (36 months) from the start of your subscription. After the 3 years the device becomes yours and you can cancel free of charge. If you cancel earlier, one settlement covers the included leak detections and repairs you've used, plus a device-removal fee, and a technician then removes the device. You can upgrade anytime, which starts a new 3-year term; moving to a lower plan means cancelling first under these terms and starting a new 3-year term on the lower plan.
If a leak is found, who fixes it and what does that cost?
If a repair is needed, you book a background-checked technician right in the app. Leak detection visits are included on Standard and Premium, and covered repairs are included on Premium. When a service isn't included in your plan, it's billed per job — leak detection at a flat rate, repairs at their listed price, and a visit fee on booked visits. Current prices are in the app. For any repair you pay for, you see and approve the quote before work begins — you're never charged for a repair you didn't approve.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. IQnero runs in a mobile app for both iOS and Android. From it you can watch your pool's status, receive leak alerts in gallons, book and track a technician, read service reports and manage your billing — the whole experience lives in one place.
