Privacy Policy
How we handle information across the IQnero website and service — for pool owners and field technicians alike.
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This Privacy Policy is a working template provided for transparency during our private beta. It has not yet been reviewed by qualified legal counsel and must be reviewed and finalized by a licensed attorney before public launch. It is not legal advice.
1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how IQnero ("IQnero," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information. IQnero is a smart pool-leak-monitoring service: a smart meter measures a pool's water flow around the clock, detects leaks, alerts the owner in gallons the moment usage drifts from normal, and dispatches a background-checked field technician when a repair is needed.
We are currently in private beta, starting in Texas, USA. Because the service is still rolling out, some features and practices described here may change as we grow. We will keep this policy up to date as that happens.
2. Scope
This policy covers two things:
- The IQnero website — the pages you are reading now, including our waitlist.
- The IQnero service — the smart meter installed on your pool, the IQnero app, and the account that ties them together.
It applies to both audiences we serve: pool owners who use IQnero to monitor their pools, and the field technicians who perform installations and repairs.
3. Information we collect
From our website
- Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you provide so we can let you know when IQnero is available in your area.
- Basic analytics. When analytics are enabled, we use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to understand aggregate traffic — for example, which pages are viewed, the referring site, approximate region, and device type. Plausible does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not collect data that identifies you personally.
From the IQnero service and app (pool owners)
- Account details — such as your name, email address, phone number, and a password (which we store only in hashed form).
- Pool address and location — the service address where your pool and meter are located, used to install the device, match you with technicians in your region, and schedule visits.
- Device and water-usage readings — continuous water-flow and consumption data from the smart meter on your pool's line, delivered through our device and metering partner. This is the data that powers leak detection and your gallon-based alerts.
- Payment information — handled by Stripe when you subscribe to a plan or pay the one-time installation fee; we do not store full card numbers on our own systems.
- Service history — your bookings, leak detections, repair reports, ratings, and your messages with our support team.
From field technicians
- Account and contact details — such as your name, email address, phone number, and service region.
- Identity and background-check information — processed by Checkr as part of technician screening. Checkr conducts the background check and returns a result to us; we receive the screening status and the limited details needed to make an eligibility decision, as permitted by applicable law and your authorization.
- Work and payout information — the jobs you complete, the service reports and photos you submit, your scheduling and availability, and the payout details needed to pay you (payments are handled through our payments provider).
4. How we use information
- Operate the service — monitor your pool's water use, detect leaks, and send alerts in real gallons the moment usage drifts from normal.
- Create and manage accounts, authenticate you, and keep you signed in.
- Match pool owners with background-checked technicians in their region and coordinate installations and repairs.
- Process subscription payments, installation fees, and technician payouts.
- Communicate with you — service alerts, booking and repair updates, support replies, and (if you opted in) waitlist and product news.
- Screen technicians and support safety, trust, and fraud prevention.
- Understand aggregate usage and improve the reliability and quality of the service.
- Meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
5. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the circumstances below.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run IQnero, and we share only the information each one needs to do its job:
- Stripe — processes payments and payouts.
- Checkr — performs background checks for field technicians.
- Our device and metering partner — collects and relays your pool's water-usage readings.
- Google Fonts — serves the fonts used on this website.
- Plausible — provides privacy-friendly website analytics, and only when analytics are enabled.
Between pool owners and technicians
To complete a booking, the technician assigned to your job receives the information needed to carry out the visit — such as your service address and relevant pool details. In turn, you can see the assigned technician's name and that they are a verified, background-checked professional.
Legal, safety, and business
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
- To protect the rights, property, and safety of IQnero, our customers, our technicians, or the public, and to detect or prevent fraud or abuse.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will continue to protect your information and notify you of any material change in how it is handled.
6. Cookies and local storage
Our website uses minimal cookies and local storage. Our analytics (Plausible) are cookieless, and the IQnero app uses local storage and secure tokens to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences. For more detail, see our Cookie Notice.
7. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as we need it to provide the service and for legitimate business and legal purposes, then delete or anonymize it. In general:
- Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or until we launch in your area, whichever comes first.
- Account and service history, including water-usage readings, are kept for the life of your account and for a reasonable period afterward.
- Payment records and technician background-check records are kept as long as required by applicable law and our providers' requirements.
8. How we protect information
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information — including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and the use of established, security-focused providers such as Stripe and Checkr. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly if an issue arises.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit certain uses. You can:
- Update most account details directly in the IQnero app.
- Unsubscribe from marketing and waitlist emails at any time. Note that essential service messages — such as leak alerts and booking updates — are part of the service and are not promotional.
- Ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, or to export it, by contacting us at the address below.
We will respond to requests as required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Children's privacy
IQnero is intended for adults. The service and this website are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. International users
IQnero is operated from the United States and is currently available only in Texas. If you access our website or service from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as IQnero evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version here. If the changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice, such as by email or in the app.
13. How to contact us
